ST KILDA BEACH

Well here I am again after another eventful weekend taking photos, although it was very cold I still managed to enjoy my self and get some great shots. I was after a certain type of photograph so I set myself the task of trying to get some really great beach shots.

It was quite dull over head and once again this time of year can be quite unpredictable with the weather and I was hoping that the clouds didn't move so the rain wouldn't start. I managed to get a few great shots, this one of an old building in the city now don't ask me what the building is or how old cos I will tell you I have no idea, I just thought it looked really good with the lights peeping through the columns at the front.

Although it was trying to rain and as a few small drops fell I managed to capture this photograph of a rainbow through the trees and tram lines. Rainbows aren't the easiest things to capture and I was so happy when I saw the final result.

It was so cold as I stepped onto the St Kilda Beach pier, and as I walked down it pulling my coat around me and bringing my scarf closer to my face I saw a little boy bending over saying to his dad where is Pingu the Penguin. I think it was hiding under the pier trying to get away from all who tried to grab a glimpse of it. I stood for a minute and watched and then saw his face light up when he was able to see it. He was so happy, then his father took hold of his little hand and said say good bye to Pingu, and they walked away into the distance. As I stood and watched the little boy I looked around me, in the distance I could see the city buildings with their lights beginning to shine and I could hear the waves lapping at the rocks behind me. There were a few people walking on the pier and one chap said to me with a foreign accent what a beautiful city, I replied wait till the lights come on over the city and it will look so much more beautiful. He smiled at me and walked of to catch up with a woman he was with who was also taking photos, but with something quite small and not a sophisticated as mine.

The lights shone brightly on the pier with a hazy glow, the few shots I managed to take came out just perfect, although I was quite worried, my ears hurt with the cold and as I placed my hands around my camera to take the shot my camera bag slid off my shoulder and down my arm I straightened it up again and placed it back on my shoulder. Then click went my camera, the shots I wanted were taken...

Sunset over the City of Melbourne

Well I had left the cold of St Kilda Beach behind me and was now in the city of Melbourne, after finding a nice warm restaurant I sat down with my hubby to have some Vietnamese food. I still had my camera with me and dare not leave it in the car, so I though seeing I had it with me why not take some more photos, the city was bustling with people everywhere, Chinese, Italian, Greek and yes even that elusive Australian. Some people were standing around listening to street buskers, hey watch it, a young man rushing by going where I do not know, bumps my arm and my camera bag slides of my arm, as I placed it back onto my arm I stepped up onto the elevator to head to Melbourne Central, by this time of night most of the shops were shut only a few where open and one coffee shop bustling with people trying to get a nights coffee. I looked up and above me was the most amazing coloured building called the shot tower as I watched it, the colours began to change. I placed my camera bag on an empty table and took out my camera, I held the bag close to me, and as I looked up to the top of the building I grabbed these photographs...

Another couple of photographs taken in Melbourne Central.
