Party Photo Shoots

I'm back here again after being caught up with so many things.
Life just gets away from you, now it is October and Christmas is fast approaching.

We are currently in the throws of renovating and putting the house up for sale, we are going to start a new chapter in our lives, in a new area in a brand new beautiful home. So exciting times ahead for all of us.

In between all this, I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely young girl's 21st birthday and then a 60th birthday.
These nights are so much fun   Lots of lovely food, plenty of dancing and people having lots of fun.
My beloved does all the video footage whilst I take the photos. Then the following day I do all the editing and make videos of photos and places on either DVD or memory stick for the client.

These are just a few of the photos I took

House is all quiet, now except the humming of the washing machine and the tv in the background, the dog is snoring behind me on the couch and the cat is curled up fast asleep. So this gives me the time I need here.

I have only recently started to take party photos, what I have done has been great fun, so if you don't want the hassle of taking your own photos at your next party and want to enjoy your time with family and friends then feel free to contact me at picturesthrumylens@gmail.com  or you can message me on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/PicturesThruMyLens/

As I sit here and listen to the rain on the roof I think of all the place I have been with beloved and the fun we have had together exploring and looking for something to photograph.

I must say thank you to beloved for supporting me

Photo Books

Well I had a good weekend 1 June, taking photos of a lovely young ladies 21st Birthday.
The family was great and so easy to photograph.
All the things I brought for the photo booth went down really well, from the very large glasses to the feather boa, which the father of the birthday girl loved.
It was hard to get some shots as there were flashing lights and I had to set the camera settings quite often. I must admit I was very happy with the end results.

The week prior to the birthday I was asked to put a photobook together which I talked about in my previous blog.
The young lady loved it as did her family, the book was passed around to everyone to sign and wish the birthday girl a happy birthday. These are great to look back on and I'm sure they will hold many memories for her.

I am happy to design photo books for anyone who would like one, you might like one for a special occasion or just your family photos or the new baby or even one with your favourite pet, all you need to do is send me all the photos you want a brief description of how you would like it designed and I will put it together for you.

The party shoot I did went very well. although I was very worried as I was using my new camera and I am still learning how to set it.  I did get a few shots which were not good but all photographers don't always get 100% with their photos, I say if you get about 80% which are ok you have done really well and you can pat yourself on the back.
I had a really fun night and again must thank beloved for helping me,  the young girl had the most amazing food, we were given plates of food and told to eat.

All in all it was a fun night had by all

The Colour of Gold Paints the Town

As Autumn faded and Winter is now upon us, and the cold air greets me, I decided to head to Malmsbury to catch the beautiful gold colours before they disappeared, it was such a cold day and the warmth of the car was so lovely after having the cold breeze upon my face.

I looked around but no one was in site, I suspected they were all huddled around the open fire of the local hotel.

Smoke swept across to me in the breeze and the smell was lovely from one of the local old houses, as it rose up into the sky.

The ducks waddle around on the edge of the lake, a few braved the cold to take a swim, bobbing their heads up and down to see what lay in the water to eat. As we neared them they looked at us with fear in their eyes, then waddle away as fast as they could.

I walked around for about 1/2 hour taking in the crisp cool air as beloved followed behind, crunching his feet on the gold, orange and green leaves that lay on the ground, as he talked about running through the leaves as a child. We both had that moment which took us back in time, that time when innocence only prevailed.

I am very fortunate and grateful that I have such a patient husband, who is happy to go on my photo adventures with me, he never complains and I thank him for that.

I felt a bit uneasy with my camera as I am only learning how to use my new Canon 77D which I recently purchased. I am back in the learning curve again, like when I got my very first Canon camera years ago. and I suppose when it comes to my camera, I am a little bit of a perfectionist and if I can't do my best, I feel really let down in my abilities. With photos you have to do the best you can because what you capture could change in an instant and that moment could be lost for ever.

Photography for me, is a way for me to go into another world, to see things differently, taking me to another place far away from my troubles for a few hours, seeing the beauty of a tiny leaf on the ground looking at a raindrop which has fallen on a crisp golden leaf or even the ripple on the ocean as the waves roll in over the sand.
As I see the reflection of the viaduct bridge reflecting in the river, with the big golden and yellow trees casting their shadows over the bridge onto the water.

Here are a few pictures I took when I was in Malmsbury here in Victoria, a little over a month ago. Truly one of the most magical places you can visit in Autumn. I wonder if there are fairies hiding behind one of the trees?

The colours of green, gold and yellow paint the top of the calm lake

As the rain falls, it settles it's self on the crisp brown leaves that lay on the damp green grass

Life Stresses

My life of late has not been an easy one for us with lots of things going on, my saddest thing was my trusty camera no longer works and I have had to borrow my daughters, but I am very lucky she has the same camera like mine.

This week will be a new learning curve for me, I have a 21st birthday to photograph on the first of June and I had to purchase a new camera so I went for the Canon 77D. So I will be learning as much as I can as soon as I get this camera, so I can photograph the birthday with ease.

I have just got into doing photobooks for clients, and am waiting on my first one which the family will present at this 21st birthday that I will be photographing.

I had a lot of fun working on this book and have done others which I did for both my children for their 21st Birthdays.

I am now hoping that those who see this will want to have one done, not just for a 21st birthday but for any occasion you choose. It is nice to have all your photos displayed in a nice book which family and friends can view when you leave it on your coffee table.

I haven't done much photography of late, as I have had more pressing things to do, I would like to share with you a few shots of what I managed to take in between all our stresses in life.

We took a trip to Williamstown here in Melbourne, we just sat and watched the boats sail by, as the day sky turned into night and the blue colour changed to an orange and pale blue colour. I needed the break from the stresses of the world and to sit and watch the world go by was such a nice change from the fast paced life we live in.

Late last year my husband's parents moved to a gold mining town called Maryborough which is almost 2 hours from where we live. On our first trip there I managed to get a few shots of the beautiful countryside. It is a lovely town which consists of lots of very old houses and buildings. Many of the old buildings along the way have been left for many years and have begun to fall down, the stories these buildings hold, one wonders.

Recently we took another trip to see in-laws and I noticed it was much greener this time than the last time we travelled there, we have only had a very small amount of rain this year and it surprised me how green it had become.
