Malmsbury in Autumn

Here I am again, another lovely weekend catching up with friends, then a really nice day out with the camera.

So much for the cooler weather creeping up on us, it seems to have disappeared at the moment and brought with it a warm breeze and some sunshine which made for a lovely day out.

Yesterday was my photography day, it turned out to be a great fun day, with a friend her two kids and my hubby in tow. The sun was warm as it stroked the side of my face, as I walked through the multitude of Autumn leaves which freshly lay on the lush green grass beneath my feet.

We traveled to a place called Malmsbury not more than just over an hour away from home, everywhere I looked I could see the beautiful colours of Autumn around me.

Malmsbury is a very old town,  no where near as big as Melbourne but full of lots of very old homes and buildings. It has a bit of history to it's name but I think you best have a look on the net if your interested.

One of the main attractions which I was very keen to view was the old Viaduct bridge This magnificent bridge has five 18.3 meter spans, is about 25 meters high, and carries two railway tracks over the Coliban River at Malmsbury. It is still one of Australia’s finest early bridges built in 1859.

It was such a great day for photographs, the sun was shinning although the sky was slightly gray, the colours around me were so spectacular the oranges, the yellows, the greens all blended together  to form a wonderful picture.

Quaint little coffee shops and a bookstore stood and looked at us as the occasional person walked in.

These little towns are so pretty, with the smell of someones open fire which wafted up our nose and around us, with their front fences and a big old tree standing in the garden as the lone car traveled past and down the road to who knows where, as a bird squawked in the trees high above us.

Taradale Viaduct bridge

The Taradale Viaduct is a large wrought iron box girder bridge over Back Creek at Taradale

We hadn't decided to go to Taradale we were just passing through when I saw this bridge, I had the urge to get out and photograph it, it was just as pretty there as it was in Malmsbury lots of yellow and orange Autumn trees every where, swaying gently in the breeze.

With my DSLR camera in hand, I am trying to put into practice what I have been learning in my photography course. All though I have been an avid photographer for a few years  now I always say you are never too old to learn something new which I am with this course.

My mum always taught us kids to have dreams and to chase them and always be happy in what ever you do.

Maybe that is why my brother has his own successful electrical business, and my sister loves to help people less fortunate than her through her church.

Me my dream is my photography and to travel taking photos and photographing what I see in this wide country of ours and the people around me. I want to see one day my photos up on walls and would like to feel proud when I say that is my photograph.

Life takes everyone in different directions, from one who worked in an office for many years then, becoming a housewife and mum to two beautiful children, I decided it was time to immerse myself into my passion of photography. So as you will see some weeks I have a heaps of great photos then other weeks not so good, but does it really matter when one is doing what they love the most.

What A Sunset

Sunday was Mothers Day and thanks to my dear kids not doing anything and feeling quite deflated, I decided to get my camera ready and head down the coast for a lovely afternoon with my dearest and my camera.

It was quite grey overhead and I feared that rain would hinder any photos I wanted to take today, but as we traveled down the highway, the sky was starting to show blue and the sun began to peek out from behind the grey cloud. I wanted to sit and take in what was around me, I didn't want to think of anything else. Took myself and the other half a few minutes to find the exact street we had to turn down, we had been to this spot before but did either of us note the name of the street down oh no that would have been too easy for us, but after a time we manged to find the correct street thanks to the navigation program on my Samsung mobile phone.

As I stepped onto the sand and looked around me, there were a few people walking along the waters edge and a few dogs chasing seagulls as they flew away. As the water greeted the sky they almost merged into one, the colours were magnificent, as a lone boat bobbed up and down on the calm waters.

As I sat and looked around me, I felt a seance  of sadness, knowing at the end of the day I had to return home. I wished life was always this calm and quiet as it was whilst I sat on the beach and took in the cool sea air. With the winter months approaching I could feel how much colder the sea breeze felt as it softly touched my face.

There were no waves on the water, it was so calm and not a sound could be heard other than the clicking of my camera, as I took photos of the beautiful sunset which began to appear in front of me. I sat and watched as the sun began to shine a magnificent orange and lit up the evening sky. The photos I took just don't seem to do the sun set justice.

I had learnt something new over the last week with my camera and wanted to shoot in manual mode, I wanted to see how much I had taken in with what I was doing. I was very happy with this weeks photo shoot  If I must say so myself.

Sorry for the multitude of photos, but I wanted you to see how spectacular this sunset really was.
