Logie Awards

With a four day week, and remembering the fallen with ANZAC Day on Friday, I had a nice relaxing weekend catching up with friends and then the highlight of our weekend, was going into town to stand with a multitude of people waiting for the rich and famous to arrive at the Crown Casino Melbourne for the TV Week Logie Awards.

The weather was so perfect with clear blue skies made for an enjoyable afternoon.
The red carpet was rolled out, the barriers erected, and the security guards scattered here and there, watching you like a hawk to see if you do the wrong thing or even put one foot past the barrier, waiting so eagerly to pounce on you like a hungry tiger so they can have a go at you..

I could hear the screams of young girls, yes the stars were walking towards us and down the red carpet. Ooh how exciting.
I stood with my camera poised in my hand. I felt like the paparazzi, waiting, waiting, waiting, for someone special to appear. Everyone around was pushing and shoving to try and get that one photo of their favorite person.

I felt a bit lost amongst the crowds of people, although I was only two people from the barrier, being 5 foot 3inches was a problem in it's self. Why didn't I buy a pair of platform shoes, then maybe I would have grown a few inches taller and could have seen the glamorous stars strutting down the carpet to win their awards.

As the screams got louder, I could hear the girls calling out Ed Sheeran, Ed Sheeran he was very close to us, but I could not get a photo because, me once again being too short missed it all ;(

I did manage to get some photos, so yes I was very happy. It was all glitz and glamor, the night was full of laughter tears and celebration for all who attended by invitation only.

I must admit I was waiting to see Steve Peacock from Home and Away aka Brax, but so were thousands of other screaming females. The gowns were long and flowing with layers of gold and diamonds straddled around their necks.Shoes so high and precariously did they have to walk. What a life!

OOh look what I found scouring the internet a photo of Jason Derulo, no look a bit closer, closer again. Yes there is my hubby in this pic holding the blue phone. Wow do you want his autograph?

Maybe next year I could be a photographer too the stars, oh year right who am I kidding.

New Tripod

I had waited all week to be able to get out with my camera and new tripod, it was a long weekend for Easter and I had wanted to get out more than one day, but with the weather here it stopped us even putting one toe out the door. One of the days it rained, when it rains and it's cold all you feel like doing is curling up in front of the fire. with your hands wrapped around a nice warm cuppa.

I always seem to have a plethora of photos to go through when I've been out, and deciding which ones to use is a task in it's self.

As I flick through my weekly photos I see some that are quite outstanding, others I look at I think hmm what was I thinking at the time. Everyone's opinion on things is quite different and what I see as something spectacular others may say something quite different, but really does it matter, we are all different and made up of different thoughts and views. I use my photography as a bit of a stress relief from the daily chores, it gets me out of the four walls which surround me and into the wide open spaces of the beautiful country I live in.  We decided to brave the weather the grey clouds which promised rain hung high in the sky. Autumn had arrived with a blast of cold air and increasingly thick coats.

It wasn't an easy decision to decide where my other half and I would go for the day, we wanted to go somewhere exciting that made us feel good and happy and not too far from home.

There are many things I like to photograph, if I started to list them all, it would take me days to write them all down so I promise you I wont bore you with them...

One thing I will share with you is my love of sunsets, although you do have to wait for the right moment to get the best effect when you take the photo sometimes you might have to wait an hour other times might be quite a bit longer.

I have taken many sunset pictures over time and some are better than others, but all I have had to wait for the right moment, this time was much better, I was able to line it up precisely due to having my new fancy tripod with a spirit level in it. I sensed relief when I knew it was lined up correctly and the horizon line wasn't leaning to one side as it used to be before my purchase of the elusive tripod. I felt like a real professional photographer standing behind the camera, out of the corner of my eye I could see the glances of people looking at me as if I was something real special.

A group of Asians came along with there small cameras or phones to try and get a shot so spectacular that they could beam home via the internet to family and friends. The internet has provided us with instant mail no longer the need for processing of photographs and then writing a long winded letter and rushing to the post office the next day to get it in the next mail delivery, hoping that the receiver gets it before you return home. But that has all changed, one click of a button and it's gone to who ever and where ever you want it to go.

New Purchase

I suppose I must admit I don't feel as bright and chirpy as I usually, do the clocks went back 1 hour on the weekend and too me it seems like the weather always turns it's self from nice warm sunny days to dull grey and rainy days. I know your saying we need the rain and yes we do but does it have to rain when I have great things planned outside.

The weekend passed was great I managed to get into town to get my new tripod. I also bought myself a back pack for all my camera equipment, so now I'm very happy.

My camera bag and tripod

You would have thought the day was going to be quite cool, so I dressed to suit the day, but how wrong one can be. by lunch time the temperature had risen 6 degrees and it turned out to be quite hot. Both days of the weekend were much the same, great for taking photos but this week it hasn't stopped raining and now everything is dull and wet.

As we walked through the city we could hear the sound of an electric keyboard and someone singing in the distance as the familiar tune filled our ears.

Oh dear I had purchased my new camera bag and tripod, but where was my mobile phone, had I dropped it? Thankfully I'd left it on the counter of the store I purchased my items, and the woman had put it under the counter, so happily I collected it and went on my way.

I managed to get a few shots and looked forward to the following day where I was able to use my new tripod.

Sunday was much a day like Saturday the weather was lovely and I was so happy to be able to go out and try out my new tripod.

My subject for the day was something I'd photographed before, I decided to go back to Williamstown where the city buildings meet the bay with bobbing boats scattered here and there.

My tripod worked a treat although only having one tripod wasn't easy as the other half wanted to use it as well. We did manage ok and we both got some great shots.

I must admit, as one of my friends says, "Life is good, when it's good"

I want to share with you one photograph, one which my hubby took with our new tripod.
