Jan Juc

Well here I am again after another productive weekend, Saturday spent looking for a dress to wear to daughters deb ball in 2 weeks, finding something and now thinking hmm maybe I shouldn't have bought that. but was talked into buying it by daughter and her friend. So now I must take it to have hem taken up.

Saturday night was also a great night catching up with friends that I hadn't seen for a few years, telling stories of days gone by and the things we used to do. Many laughs were had by all.

Sunday was another day up early and out the door before 10am off to Jan Juc, which is about 1 1/2 hours drive from where we live. The drive was very pleasant with hubby and a friend. The sky was quite grey as we headed off but as the day progressed it became a beautiful shade of blue, and the sun managed to peek out from behind the cloud to produce a nice warm feeling as we drove along the long straight road.

What a site to see, for miles and miles all I could see was the bright yellow colour of the beautiful canola growing  in the fields around us.
As quickly we saw this it was gone and all we could see were the dry fields again with the mountains in the background.

For those who know me well, know that one of my loves is the beach and every chance I get, I am down at one of the beaches along the coast with my camera, Torquay is located the eastern end of the Great Ocean  Road and makes an ideal place to explore the spectacular coastline. Renown as the Surf Capital of Australia Torquay's magnificent stretch of coastline, is known as the best surf coast this side of Hawaii.

We decided to go to Jan Juc which is situated just a few minutes from the world famous Bell's Beach. With it's crystal clear water and pristine sand makes for a great place to just sit and watch the world go by or a great day for someone like me to take a few photographs of the surfers, waves and any thing else which may take my fancy.

The waves were a bit low and the surfers just sat and waited till the right one came along. A family came along with a small child and their dog who was so excited  and raced to the water. with it's tail wagging madly This beach is one of the few beaches which allows dogs. So I will just say if you don't like dogs then it might be best you don't go to this beach.

After a day on he beach and getting drenched by the waves and my jeans being full of sand, I have decided that I might invest in a waterproof housing for my camera. I'd love to be able to get in under the waves with my camera and not have the greatest fear of it getting wet. I almost all the time use my 55 - 250mm lens and have taken some really great photos of the waves if I must say.

The sky had gone from gray to a lovely blue with the sun shinning down and it was the first time in months which I was able to sit with short sleeve and not feel cold, it was so nice to feel the warm sun on your face as I stepped into the icy water to get a few photos, with my jeans rolled up a wave came and I had to take a few steps back in fear my camera would get wet. The beach stretched for miles and was so pretty as the sun shone down upon the beautiful yellow sand.

Dogs played in the water waiting for children to throw them a toy, only to come out and thank goodness I wasn't standing close to shake themselves dry.

All in all it was a nice relaxing day, something I needed, eating fish and chips by the beach and taking in the sounds and smells around me made for a lovely day.
